Oh, Giraffe!

I just love the color combo for this week’s Color Throwdown, pink and teal together are one of my absolute favourites.   I’ve been meaning to ink up the sweet giraffes from WPlus9’s Party Animal set since they arrived several weeks ago, and just haven’t had quite the right inspiration – until now!

Oh Giraffe

I created the background using a SU! falling hearts stencil and some modelling paste.  Once the paste was dry I put the stencil back over the top and sponged the hearts with Distress Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.  I colored the wee giraffe with copics, and sat her on top of a doily.  The SSS Congratulations was cut out of a scrap of SU! Coastal Cabana cardstock (so sad when that retired!) and sponged with some Peacock Feathers to get kind of an ombre look.  When I was playing around with the elements on the card front I accidentally hooked the swirly end of the ‘C’ around the giraffe’s neck but kind of liked it, so went with it on the card.  A couple of left-over hearts from die cutting something at some point in time (yes, I’m a hoarder!), lashings of Wink of Stella (such a pity that doesn’t show up well in photos)  and a bit of black thread to tie it all together and fit the color theme and the top layer was done.

I didn’t have enough of the Coastal Cabana cardstock to make a background layer, so I went direct to paper with Peacock Feathers to make my own colored card.  I spritzed it with some Heidi Swapp color shine in Teal (great match!) and IRL it looks fantabulous, but in the photo it is showing up as kind of spotchy bits around the edges.  Which looks ok, but not nearly as gorgeously sparkly as for real.

I used Mojo Monday sketch #412 for the layout – two challenges at once, I must be on fire!

Thanks for dropping by, hope you have a great week planned!
