Here Comes The Sun

Here comes the sun

Time for a bit of Color Throwdown – yellow, navy and white: woohoo!  I definitely tend to mix and match my supplies; there is a bit of everything in here!  Guess that’s what happens when you don’t have a plan.

I started with a cute wee SU! Project Life card in Crushed Curry that I decided would make a good shaker background with some PPP clear sequins.  Especially if I used the tag from Mama Elephant’s Basic Set (I use this awesome die set so much!) to cut out the top layer.  I got super excited about that idea – so excited that I forgot to add the acetate and had to pull the first lot of foam tape off the back of the layer.  (Seriously, I actually didn’t realise until I went to put the sequins in place and discovered that there wasn’t anything to keep them there!)  Second time went better, I even remembered to dust the inside of the foam so that the sequins wouldn’t stick.  Lined up the SU!PL card; going good so far.

Great – I had a shaker. But nothing on the front of the card.  (Oh, so cunning.)  It was a bit of a mission to level off the front of the card so I could use Tim Holtz’s Rays stencil with SU! Crushed Curry (it seemed to fit with the developing theme).  Absolutely tons of washi tape were required to mask off the acetate and bits of card that I didn’t want stencilled (handy hint:  in future, stencil the top layer before cutting the shape and/or assembling the shaker).  I sponged a little color onto the top right corner of the card so that the rays didn’t look like they just appeared out of nowhere.

Okay.  Now what.  Needing some navy…  I received a wee care package from Simon last week, which included the Sending and Wishing dies (yes, I know everyone else in the universe has had these for ever – it’s taken a while for me to be ordering at the same time as they have been in stock, popular wee puppies!)  The same package also had the WPlus9 recent release Wishing You, which I just adore, and a sentiment that seemed to fit nicely.  I stamped the sentiment in SU! Night of Navy, and cut ‘wishing’ from the matching cardstock.  The dots on the ‘i’ are really tiny, and really hard to find when you aren’t careful where you put stuff.  Just saying.

PPP Stitched Borders 2 in Night of Navy cardstock, and some Crushed Curry ribbon to ground it all.  Boom!  (also translates as “phew, must remember to make better plan next time”).

Wishing you happiness, and lots of sunshine!

Karyn
