Simply Amazing

amazing 1

An unexpected day at home means unanticipated crafty time – what a fantastic way to spend a Tuesday!  (‘Amazing’ even! *nudge nudge, wink wink*)  I can’t say I’ve really settled into any particular style yet.  Sometimes I’m CAS, sometimes not-so-much (or whatever the word is that is the complete opposite of CAS).  But as soon as I saw this weeks sketch at CAS(E) this Sketch #140 I knew exactly what I was going to do – and the colour combo at ColorQ #307 was the perfect match.  [Update:  I stopped writing this post to have dinner and missed the cutoff time for ColorQ!!]

I started with a base of SU! Whisper White and used the little brush stroke from the SU! Work of Art set to create four bands of colour at the bottom of the layer using Distress Scattered Straw, Fired Brick, Seedless Preserves and Milled Lavender.  While I had the inks out I also stamped ‘you’ from SU! Crazy About You in Seedless Preserves on a wee scrap of white card.

Once the stamping was dry, I used Avery Elle’s Amazing die to cut through the layer.  I was particularly careful to save all the little pieces from inside the letters (they say we should learn from our mistakes) and stuck them all onto a Whisper White base card layer.

The ‘you’ stamped on the wee scrap got cut down and stamped over the messy version that I tried to stamp neatly directly onto the layer (just ask me how I knew to stamp a back-up!)  And I put loads of Wink of Stella into the cut-out to make it super-sparkly – see?

Thanks for stopping by, hope your week has been amazing so far!
