Hello There, Bear

Today’s title seems pretty appropriate given how long it has been since I’ve been around.  Life has been a little frantic lately – which does seem to happen pretty regularly round here.  Ahem.

Anyhoo!  This was one of those cards that kind of create themselves.  I started with white embossing a old SU stamp on watercolor paper.  I decided to start watercoloring in the middle to try and highlight the sentiment, starting with Tea Dye, then Brushed Corduroy and some Vintage Photo right at the edges.  I added some water drops and then let it try in the sun (yep – sunshine!  SO loving spring this year!)  Well pleased with how it all turned out!

The gorgeous wee bear, butterfly and sentiment are from WPlus9’s Happy Mail.  I stamped them in Distress Walnut Stain, then used a wet brush to drag color in from the edges of the bear to create some shading.  I just love how the Distress inks move so easily and make it so simple to create such beautiful shadows.  Especially for watercolor newbies like me.

I cut down the watercolor layer and mounted it on some black cardstock and then on a top-folded Crumb Cake card base that I dry embossed with the Weathered folder from Taylored Expressions.  Hello There, Bear!
